BICENTENNIAL OF THE WAR OF 1812
Memorializing the important role of the Natchez Trace in the War of 1812 was one of the main purposes for creating the Natchez Trace Parkway in 1934. The Association is working with the 7th U.S. Infantry Living History Association and others to develop significant living history events along the Parkway during the 2012 to 2015 bicentennial. Muster Day on the Natchez Trace 2012 and the Natchez-to-Nashville Expedition Natchez 1813: Becoming “Old Hickory” events were great successes. The bicentennial activities should foster a permanent and enhanced living history program for the Parkway.
